Extension

If you have already been learning characters for a while, this is a great place to review. Each lesson below covers a group of characters that share a common component. It is helpful to approach characters this way at the intermediate level when you want to review and/or extend your character base. Each lesson is carefully crafted into a uniquely illustrated meta-story, which also helps the brain associate new characters with a group of similar characters. You can also find Utah DLI (Dual Language Immersion) characters grouped by grade level, so immersion students using Mandarin Matrix can consolidate characters they are learning in school in a new way.

Utah DLI Characters

The assigned characters for each grade level are based on the Mandarin Matrix readers. They are presented in groups of 9 characters to make reviewing more manageable. For each character, there is information on the breakdown and a suggested story for remembering the character. There is also a quiz at the end of each lesson.
